Friends Foes & Followers
- Friends, Foes & Followers
- Friends, Foes & Followers is a GM resource that uses a common format for presenting 2 pages of information about a character. The characters can be used in any way the GM sees fit; as NPC opponents, helpers or even emergency PCs for that unexpected player, making these resources no GM should be without.
- With FFF 11, the layout of the character sheet has been finalized. Some of the changes include: grey header (to save on ink), acknowledgement moved to the illustration side of the page, added a credit for Brent Bailey (editor), added the star rating for the character on the text side of the page, removed the colour headers from the description and adventure hooks to make the document completely black and white, standardized the size of the description and adventure hook boxes.
- The largest number of changes are to the stat box, including: new appearance section (including the character’s size, as per HM3 Character 6), new money/valuables section, new other equipment section, new load and encumbrance sections, and a separate section for missile weapons.
- The most significant change is a whole new indexing system (included). This makes each character type a single three-digit number. Different characters will be indicated by a letter following the number.
- With FFF 12, some minor changes have been made to the "final" layout introduced in FFF11. A revised and updated index has been included which explains the new numbering system for FFFs and which now includes the name of every FFF character released to date by HWG (Hârn Writer's Guild) including the FFF release number they can be found in. The header on the text/stat side has been coloured to match the section shown in the index. The rating system proved too cumbersome and has been eliminated. ~ Check what this Rating System was.

Hârn Pottage

As the title suggests, this has a bit of everything in it and flavoured with a little meat. It’s a mishmash of random buildings, places and things to be used on Hârn anywhere the GM feels appropriate. Although locations are given for a couple of pieces, these are optional and easily moved.
Also included are various arcane items for campaigns which use magic. The mini adventures/encounters included will hopefully help those GMs who have nothing prepared, or as filler for their PCs’ travels between major points in their present quest, but could be used as a starting off point for beginning characters.
The piece is excellently illustrated by Richard Luschek, and you already know Mike’s beautiful maps from his work on the Tashal module for CGI. Hârn Pottage is a must-have module. I’ll certainly be making use of it, and I hope there are many more Pottage modules to come in the future.
Update 2008-01-04: Hârn Pottage has been reviewed on RPGnet, and those thoughts are up for all the world to see. Jocelyn Robitaille gave the article top marks for style and only marked down substance by a single point because he doesn’t use (or even know) Hârn and couldn’t use the items described in it. Hmmm…I can see his point, but surely a bit of thought might provide him with some ideas as to how to use the items. Still, 9 out of 10 is a pretty good score. Well done Mike!

Pottage III continues the fine tradition of bringing excellent supplementary material to the roleplaying community. While the places, people, and adventures contained in this volume are aimed at the world of Hârn, with very little work they could be used in any medieval fantasy campaign. Heck, with just a little more work, they could be used in ANY genre!
Included with artwork by the incomparable Richard Luschek and beautiful maps, the author has once again exceeded all expectations. These 40 pages are roleplaying gold…and free!
As an added bonus, Joe McCallum has made coloured editions of some of the Keep (Fortified Manor House) that appears on pgs 2-5.
