CHURCH OF PEONI [??]
The Church of Peoni has little interest in holding extensive secular estates. Forute is held by the Irreproachable Order, the male branch of the church, while Chantaer and Duseda are held by the female Order of the Balm of Joy. These are both are held from the Sulaplyn (bishop) in Aleath, who holds them from the king. The Sulaplyn is often titled "Archbishop of Western Hârn" since Rethem and Tharda have little organized Peonian presence.
Chantaer and Forute are guarded by warriors of the Laranian Order of the Checkered Shield. The same was true of Duseda until 717, when the newly appointed Pelnala (abbess), Lorine Shambrel, had the guards recalled for doctrinal reasons. Lorine, a gentle woman, was deeply troubled by the presence of armed men in the secluded community of peaceful women. Both her Sulaplyn and the Laranian Reblena (commander) of Hekra have remonstrated with Lorine on numerous occasions, pointing out the vulnerable, isolated position of Duseda on the east bank of the Eryn, but she remains adamant.
