Kedis is the administrative center of the densely populated and wealthy Kedisa Hundred. Most overland trade to Aleath from the north passes through Kedis. The thriving local economy is based upon highly skilled local fullers, weavers, and dyers, and upon the innkeepers, teamsters, cartwrights, and other skilled craftsmen that keep trade moving to and from Pinide, Dyrisa, and beyond.
Kedis was built in 368 to guard the northern approach to Aleath. The keep was rebuilt during the Corani Empire.
The Sheriff of Eryna is Earl Ranald Milaka of Sarkum. The earl finds Kedis to be conveniently close to the centers of power and spends considerable time here, in part to keep watch over the constable. The office of Bailiff of Aleta Hundred is currently vacant. Important legal matters are currently being handled directly by the sheriff, who is eager to appoint a new bailiff.
In stark contrast to his brother, the Rekela of Ternula, Constable Elaris Milaka is a scheming wastrel with grand plans that far outreach his ability. He is, however, one of the most lethal swordsmen in the Eryn Valley. This and his kinship to the royal family enable him to hold a position for which he is eminently unsuited.
