- Highlight available map squares with: Red overlay, Black Text showing Tile# (ie. C6 CG5000E-C6), and a link to Map Tile Page.
- CG5000-E8 Atlas Hârnica Map E8 cut out as background image for each square that is available. Add new "Sea" only ones too for all water map.
- Make a Regional Map with Cultures as a colour, and also icons for location types (ie. Castle, Keep, Capital, Site, and so on)
- Colours used: A, B, H (1), K (2), L (3)
Map Scale
HârnWorld Mapping Scales
Poetic Maps: Rarely drawn to an proper scale; often quite fanciful.
Regional Map: 1 cm = 12.5 Miles = 20 km = 5 Hârnic Leagues = 1 Hex ~ 300 x 225 Miles (480 x 360 km)
Atlas Maps: Scale varies according to the area covered. ~ 15 x 10 Leagues (5 Leagues = 8cm)
Local Maps: 1 mm = 10 feet ~ 2400 feet x 1800 Feet (200 feet = 2cm)
Interior Maps: 1 mm = 1 foot
Note: Have an example on same "Pic". Template: 24cm x 18cm (A4). 1 League = 2.5 Miles
Printed Map Scale
Zoom Scale
Game world zoom scale, a side-by-side map from Regional down to Interior map showing size next to each other.
- 1: Regional
- 2: Atlas ~ Stored procedurally for terrain (Contours), then like decals, the features added as coordinates within. See: Geology Simulator.
- 3: Atlas Hex (This is Game Map Moving Load Tiles Level). Size of Hex = 20 km, broken down into smaller and smaller hexes, reference to 8x8km Witcher 3 areas.
- 4: Local (Local "White" are modified player/MMO additions) ~ Referenced by DB with a Code (to make) for Regional, Hex #, Local Grid Coordinates+Alignment. This is the meat of the system for customisation and player interaction that shows where in game content is located and what. Stored as a vector outline for the foot print.
- 5: Interior ~ will use the procedural building block system, saved as an architectural blueprint that others can reference and modify for designing their own variations. ie. Houses, Keeps, Castles, etc. With a system crossing Procedural Building Blocks plus a system similar to Castles & Ruins system (for the parts). ADD another variation of the system for weapons, clothes, and all other game content to speed up creating and simplicity for storing all the data. See: Procedural World Blog
- 3: Atlas Hex (This is Game Map Moving Load Tiles Level). Size of Hex = 20 km, broken down into smaller and smaller hexes, reference to 8x8km Witcher 3 areas.
- 2: Atlas ~ Stored procedurally for terrain (Contours), then like decals, the features added as coordinates within. See: Geology Simulator.
The Mappa Hârnica Toolkit
- Regional Map: 1 cm = 12.5 miles (10 mm = 20 km) ~ Designed were designed for drawing multiple kingdoms. ~ Primarily for drawing coastal regions. These are large-scale land maps. They portray geographical locations like islands.
- Kingdom Map: ?? ~ Designed for drawing large land masses.
- Atlas Maps: 8 cm = 12.5 miles (80 mm = 20 km) ~ Designed for drawing kingdom-sized maps. These are medium-scale land maps. They show countries and the location of various settlements (villages, towns, cities) and other significant features (ruins, tribal villages, and GM points of interest).
- Local Maps: 1 mm = 10 feet (1 mm = ? m) ~ Designed for illustrating villages and towns as well as other local features.
- Interior Maps: 1 mm = 1 foot (1 mm = ? m) ~ Designed for drawing interiors of castles, keeps and other buildings.
Map Layers
Make into a table for better layout/description of each, with Icons of Each type on a map. A better break-down system that clearly shows Layers, so that each can be loaded when modified. ie. Terrain (Topology), Vegetation (made from Weather, Climate, etc.), Feature (Road, River, etc.), Settlement (Town, Castle, etc.), Layout template (who owns/controls what and where located like a council subdivision plan).
