Coat of Arms

Edino was built in 403 by Queen Elana of Aleathia. Following the annexation of that kingdom by the Corani Empire, the keep became the residence of one of the deputy governors of Aleathia province. Edino is most famous as the birthplace of Andasin I, the founder of Kanday. Andasin’s father, Eladas of Kand, built and supported the secret army that was used by Andasin I to overthrow the Theocracy and liberate Aleathia after Eladas was executed by the Morgathians. In 598, Andasin attacked Edino and seized it from the vicious warlord Taklar Zedabas, known as “The Ogre.” Edino is now the moot of Daenshire.

Edino’s long history of tragedy and triumph is known to all its residents and stirring tales of heroism are common fare in local inns. Edino is linked to the eastern part of Daenshire by a ferry. This is a defensive measure; an ancient bridge was destroyed and never rebuilt.

The Sheriff of Daen is Sir Crasel Avandar, 48, a hardworking and laconic man. Sir Crasel was a model of Laranian chivalry in his youth, distinguishing himself at Dunir and Selvos, and again in the disastrous Kuseme War. The garrison at Edino, an elite force of veteran medium horse, has served under him since 714.

Part 6 of 6 in the series Mineous

Edino guards a crossing of the Eryn River and plays an important role in the development of the surrounding area. Sheriff Crasel of Avandar, a loyal vassal of the Kandian crown, resides in the impressive fortifications of Caer Edino. Being the hundred moot of Daenshire, the town provides various specialized services to wide parts of the shire, and its position on the western bank of the Eryn allows its residents to prosper from both, land and river trade.

Besides maps and floorplans, the article provides extensive NPC stats, and complete HârnManor data. It is consistent with Kanday 2nd ed., but not with the map from the Kanday Electronic Atlas.

This is part of the Mineous Forest Project, a series of articles focusing on locations and scenarios within Daenshire and Mineous Forest.
